Larry was introduced to the guitar in high school when he learned  a few chords. He tried to sing a couple of folk songs and play along, but that was kind of a train wreck. So he set the guitar down for about 50 years. He picked it up and started playing again in 2015. He joined the weekly practice group and attended for several months before playing a single note. He had to pretty much memorize every piece because he couldn’t really read music and he had to watch his left hand to be sure he played the correct notes. The next year he joined the Mesa College Guitar Ensemble and started taking music classes. He played with the Mesa College Ensemble for a few years and continued with the San Diego Guitar Ensemble when his Mesa eligibility expired. He’s thrilled that music has come to play such an important role in his life, and is thankful for the great friends he’s made in the group. He still can’t sing.
